Almost There!

Well, it is as official as it can be without actually being there...  We are going to Copenhagen!!

Sidney and I were supposed to leave today in order to get her to Copenhagen with a few days of jetlag recovery before the big, beginning of year, social bonding, 2.5 day school retreat (the one where the letter from the school encourages children over 16 years of age to bring beer money for lunch and dinner--my school NEVER did that!).  However, the long run of endless delays and "bad luck" continues and Hurricane Irene caused our flights to be cancelled... alas, alas alackety lack...  At least we weren't stranded  in New York for days on end with only the floor of airport to sleep on, surviving on Twix bars stolen from the airport concession stands--see, I call that good luck, but others (Peg) say that this move might be cursed!

Although, it has recently come to my attention that it might NOT be a curse--just bad feng shui.  It turns out that the metal cactus sculpture in our newly fancy backyard might be brining on the horrifical bad joss--it seems that a dead looking (it's part of the charm, I think) plant amongst the lush, otherwise living, garden is a Bad Thing.  That would be a great explanation why over twelve months of planning and pushing for paperwork from the Navy have resulted in a last minute rush to Copenhagen on temporary orders instead of a more stately and leisurely trip on permanent orders.  Unfortunately, the cactus is still at the house in San Diego--hopefully the feng shui stays with the house and not the owner!

Anyway, the long and short of it is this family will be in Copenhagen for at least the next three years and you ought to come visit.  At the very least, stay up to date with what's going on by reading this blog.

peace.
